I initially bought this book before moving to Bulgaria for the Peace Corps, and hoped to gain a general grasp of the basics prior to service.

Really shoud be used in conjunction with the DVD for correct pronunciation and familiarity of inflection.

I am half way through volume 1 and find the grammar presentations very thorough and exhaustive with clever examples and exercises.
